Pakistan is facing one of it’s deepest and most distressing crises in decades. Flash flooding and torrential, prolonged rainfall has caused entire villages to be swept away. The country is experiencing colossal damage to its infrastructure with bridges and roads completely submerged and large swathes of the country completely cut-off.
Government estimates that almost a third of the country is under water with more than 1,300 people having lost their lives, a quarter of which are children.
The devastation extends to homes, crops and livestock, most of them having washed away leaving a trail of deadly havoc. Those that remain are crowding into makeshift camps across the country and the supplies to which running dangerously low.
It is feared that water-borne diseases will set-in killing thousands more within the next weeks and months
The Raza Foundation’s emergency relief teams are supporting flood affected families through the provision of cooked meals and food packs. Flood Relief Camps are being setup around the country delivering dry foods and grants where it is deemed necessary.
